Tendiboots™ Equine ... reinvented

More accurate, more adjustable, still just as accessible. Discover the new generation of Tendiboots™ Equine.
New patented sensors optimized for fast movements, offering the highest levels of precision on the market.

A user-friendly interface and a smooth user experience provide five key locomotion parameters in just a few seconds.

This allows for easy detection of subtle gait imbalances and enables continuous monitoring of locomotion over time.

The sensors are easily positioned on the front and hind legs.

Tendiboots™ Equine easily adjusts to all horse sizes, thanks to its fasteners.

Ekico, the #1 assistant of veterinarians for locomotion examinations

Our mission is to help you detect locomotor disorders and monitor their rehabilitation.

Thanks to its ease of implementation, this tool seamlessly integrates into your practice. Your connected technology consists of four sensors and a mobile application.

Tendiboots™ Equine adapts to all horse sizes.

🇺🇸 Dr Rebecca Evans
The Tendiboots™ are also very useful for identifying subtle lameness, allowing for objective detection of a change (or lack thereof) after performing a local anesthesia. Fascinating!

Tendiboots™ are a very useful tool for diagnosing lameness.

They allow for detailed analysis of the asymmetries that horses may present across multiple parameters (stride length, weight distribution, etc.).
🇧🇷 Dr Hélio Itapema
The data from the Tendiboots™ is particularly useful for fine and early detections.

I know the horses I monitor almost 100%, and the boots help guide the diagnostic search for the last few percent that are not detectable by the naked eye.

The Tendiboots™ are quick and easy to use.

I particularly appreciated that they analyze walking, which drew me to this product, as other locomotion analysis software focuses only on trotting.
🇺🇸 Dr Bethany Baxtley
The Tendiboots™ are an important additional tool in my diagnostic toolbox.

They provide me with 'warning signals,' just like a detailed history, manual examination, observation, and diagnostic imaging do.
🇺🇸 Dr Mark Akin
The use of Tendiboots™ allows for the quantification of asymmetries and provides very useful data in routine clinical practice as well as for complex cases.

Their use is convenient, and horses readily accept the application of the equipment.

A novel smart sensor system in boots to assess loads applied on the distal limb of horses: an ex-vivo pilot study

This new device was able to detect accurately changes in loads applied and was a surrogate measure of fetlock and tendons/ligament displacement. Once validated in a larger number of limbs, it should be tested in clinical cases.

Are the connected boots Tendiboots™ able to detect small changes in gait patterns?

The connected boots Tendiboots™ by Ekico were able to detect small change in gait patterns during the competition season on multiple horses.

Diagnostic opportunities of a novel quantitative gait analysis system in poor performance orthopedic cases

The instrumented boots confirmed objectivity and repeatability in evaluating locomotor parameters.

Proved accurate in assessing equine lameness below human’s eye threshold causing poor performance or abnormal behaviour. Kinematic data of every stride stage allows a comprehensive biomechanical analysis of compensatory adaptation, distinguishing between asymmetry and lameness.

Repeatability and reproducibility of a novel smart sensor system in boots to assess locomotion in horses

Repeatability and reproducibility of the smart sensor system in boots is excellent. Measures must be compared within a same pace (e.g trot).

Repeatability, reproducibility and validity of a novel smart sensor system in boots to assess locomotion in horses

The EKICO Tendiboots provides records of signals in Newton. It is correlated to movement of the palmar aspect of the canon to the boot.

The system is now reliable. Repeatability has been demonstrated in standardized conditions. It is also valid. It is able to detect asymmetry of locomotion with the same accuracy than veterinary experts assessing videos.

It is likely that it could be used for follow up of horses at training or in revalidation after musculoskeletal injury. It could be a useful tool in the context of telemedicine.

The addition of a rider increases stride length and ground force in horses used for Equine Assisted Services

Overall, the presence of the rider increased stride length and downward force to the ground on 3 of the legs. This modification could increase the likelihood of lameness, resulting in negative welfare to the horse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question?

No significant difficulties have been observed with Tendiboots™ Equine. Some horses, especially young ones, may need a few seconds to get used to the Tendiboots™ devices before returning to their normal gait.

No, the mobile app with updates is included in the full price of Tendiboots™.

No, it’s one size fits all! The Tendiboots™ Equine 2025 easily adapt to all leg circumferences thanks to its elastic straps.

Absolutely ! Sensors always works by pair so you can choose to use either :

  • The 2 forelimbs
  • The 2 hindlimbs
  • All 4 together

But you cannot use only one at the front and one at the back.

With the Tendiboots™ Equine 2025, the connection to the sensors is significantly improved! No need to stay close to the horse.

Once the connection is established and recording starts, the horse can move up to 30 meters away without any problems.

Maximum battery life during continuous recording is around 8 hours.

Charging time from an empty battery to 100% charge takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

There is no limitation to the number of horses you can create. You can create as much as you need.

There is no limitation to the number of recordings you can do. You can record as much horse as you need !

As of right now, it is not possible to use your system underwater.

However, it is completely possible to use it in wet conditions, on a wet horse, or in the rain.

Each sensor is designed to be placed on a specific limb. That’s why you’ll find labels on each of them, under the indicator light.

You must therefore place each sensor on the corresponding limb:

  • LF: Left forelimb
  • RF: Right forelimb
  • LH: Left hindlimb
  • RH: right hind limb

After conducting numerous tests on different horses, switching the person holding the animal on the lunge line several times, we found that this did not affect data collection or accuracy.

However, to minimize measurement bias, it is always possible to go out holding the horse on one side, then return holding it on the opposite side.

You only need an internet connection to log in to the app and analyze your recordings.

If you’re already logged in, you can still make recordings that will remain pending analysis.

Once your internet connection is restored, your pending recordings will be analyzed automatically, and you’ll be able to view the results directly in the app.
